New Redis Features: Collections are now Iterable

Just released, a free O’Reilly book on Reactive Microsystems: The Evolution of Microservices at Scale. Brought to you in partnership with Lightbend.

Recently, Redis creator Salvatore Sanfilippo announced that Redis collections are now iterable. In the past, Redis collections have been difficult to access and navigate - Sanfilippo calls them "black holes where you put things inside, and you can hardly explore them again" - so more practical techniques for working with Redis collections are definitely welcome.

The upgrades are also being back ported to version 2.8 (the code is self contained), so this should be a very helpful change and accessible to a lot of users. For the full description of the new feature, as well as a description of the thought process behind it and the work that went into it, check out Sanfilippo's blog post.

Strategies and techniques for building scalable and resilient microservices to refactor a monolithic application step-by-step, a free O'Reilly book. Brought to you in partnership with Lightbend.
