Just when you think Excel is just not in Hadoop's league, something like DataNitro's tool for analyzing Hadoop data in Excel comes along and shakes up your preconceived notions. The tool seems to be centered on creating an easy-to-use interface for analyzing Hadoop data - probably aiming to be more accessible to employees who aren't quite as much in the loop, among other things - and allows users to manipulate data in Excel, which is then scaled to Hadoop's dataset.

The tool is still a work in progress, so it's hard to say what the details will be when it's finished, but for anybody interested in a more accessible way of interacting with data in Hadoop, this tool might be worth checking out. DataNitro is looking for beta testers, by the way, so that might be the only way to get it at this point.
