Just finished reviewing what I think is a very good business level summation on Social Business, what it is, and importantly, why it is worth business executives time in examining. Patterns in Achieving Social Business Success By Leading and Pioneering Organizations, shows how organizations are using social technologies to stay competitive in and create smarter, more productive workforces.
The white paper from IBM, is based upon the premise that knowledge has become the key economic resource and the dominant source of competitive advantage. It then defines a social business as an organisation whose culture and systems encourage the building of networks that in turn create business value. Social business practices connect individuals to others, to share information, knowledge, and ideas, through conversations and informal content.
Many are still unconvinced about the importance of social business in organisational success so I believe this business focused paper is a good place to start to highlight where other enterprises have found improvements through the internal adoption of social business patterns.
