Now that Samba has everything that it wants from Microsoft, it doesn’t have enough hands to do the coding.

Meanwhile, the Linux Foundation says that in the last three years the number of developers contributing to the Linux kernel has tripled – 70%-95% of whom get paid for their work – and there’s been a significant increase in the number of companies supporting the kernel’s development.

Samba, on the other hand, is finding that companies think they can do it themselves since Microsoft released the infamous protocols. It’s telling them, “Boys, it ain’t as easy as it looks.”
