Here’s our gathering of the week’s news bits around software-defined networking (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), and related topics.

… Cloud and metro-network equipment vendor BTI Systems named Colin Doherty as president and CEO. He comes from Arbor Networks, where he was VP of sales. He takes over the role from Steve Waszak, who is leaving BTI “for personal reasons.”

…. ConteXtream and Guavus are teaming up to make service provider networks programmable with real-time analytics. The partnership will combine ConteXtream’s ContexNet, a carrier-grade distributed SDN fabric, with Guavus’ Reflex analytics platform. The joint solution is designed to give network operators an end-to-end view of the network and allow service providers to dynamically allocate network resources.

Huawei opened what it says is the first OpenDaylight lab in the Asia/Pacific region. The lab in Huawei’s Shenzhen, China headquarters offers free services to the SDN open-source community to give APAC developers the chance to test and verify Hydrogen and any upcoming versions of ODL software. Check out the OpenDaylight Wiki page for more details.

… Finally, the OpenDaylight project is launching a summer intern program for student developers. Deadline to apply is April 25. Details here.
