Apple's latest iPhone operating system, iOS 9, launched yesterday with much fanfare. The release comes a week after the long anticipated Apple annoucements that included a new iPhone 6s, to be launched September 25 (with pre-ordering options currently available by carrier).

As reported by VentureBeat, predictive analytics company Mixpanel has launched a visualization tool to track the number of iOS 9 downloads. Using data from people using apps with the Mixpanel SDK, CEO Suhail Doshi told VentureBeat that they have run these reports for the past three years on both iOS and Android devices with "highly accurate" results. This data will indicate how well the new OS will perform and how its new features are doing in the market. Apps that contain Mixpanel's technology include Spotify and Uber.

In addition to new fonts, new features include:

  • A news app

  • Split screen UI for iPad users

  • An actual "back" button (to be honest, one of the stranger omissions from Apple's usually intuitive UX)

  • Wi-Fi Assist to help you if your current connection is too slow

  • Zoom for videos

  • Automatic launch available for your most used music player upon plugging in your earphones

  • Automatic calendar events based on emails (a feature already exisiting in Gmail/Android)

  • Battery life management

  • And more.
