Set up cross-departmental execution

It is awesome when you already have automated processes and improved performance inside your department with some kind of a good process management system. Yet the gold mine is hidden elsewhere. When you want to bring your company to a new level of performance, when you seek to make a difference in the market, you need to act at a higher level improving cross-departmental operations. Tasks which are not lost on the way from one department to another, is a high priority matter which is tied up with much bigger budgets and benefit.

So that’s when you come to the idea of BPM. The difference of cross-departmental, usually enterprise BPM solutions lies in the possibility of flexible adaptation of the solution to the existing processes while similar solutions dedicated to a specific department activity are usually hard-coded and dedicated to solving internal problems and operational routine for one specific kind of activity. They are hard to configure when you need to add more processes of a different nature which differ from what the solution is dedicated to. On the contrary, a large BPM solution can be configured to solve cross-departmental cooperation over processes.

BPM solutions bring control over work and critical daily operations, which results in higher efficiency of the company on the whole.

I have already spoken about it more than once, but when we considered those ideas here, in Comindware, about 4 years ago, we started with a technology which supports flexibility and functionality of cross-departmental BPM. When you start using Comindware Tracker, you already have a set of apps tailored for a number of key departments for each company, such as finance and administration, human resource, sales. This ensures that all of your departments can work together inside a single solution where there’s place for each automated process for each specific department, and, at the same time, you can share information, and data on the pieces of work and collaborate. While managers get real-time visibility, the team gets an Outlook-like working environment with a friendly user interface and all work data shared for everyone.
