Wired magazine just jumped on the DevOps bandwagon.

Okay, so automated configuration management isn't exactly news to DZoners. (Seriously -- we have a whole Microzone devoted to DevOps alone.) But when Wired Enterprise picks up a technology, you know it's beginning to catch on.

Further evidence that DevOps is entering the mainstream is located directly in the article:

Traditionally, Chef and Puppet are used to manage Linux — the OS that drives most cutting edge startups — but both now have agents that run on Windows as well. For Lyman, this is a must for the move into big business. “There’s a real need for DevOps on the Windows side,” he says. “Most enterprises — and services providers, for that matter — mix Windows machines with Linux machines.”

The 'he' quoted above is Jay Lyman, an experienced analyst from The 451 Group. The article benefits considerably from Jay's insight, nicely navigating DevOps' utility for both cloud and internal applications. Plus some pithy contributions by Luke Kanies, the Puppet Master, and Jesse Robbins, the Master Chef.
