Ideas are flowing freely and easily among Toronto residents at IdeaSpace. As an early introduction to this “community consultation” movement, local leaders are getting input from community members about how to make the process as meaningful for them as possible. Thomas’s popular idea is to couple public meetings with a walking tour of the neighborhoods and projects up for discussion. He says it would provide people with context and a better understanding of the planning process, educating them and leading to more constructive feedback.
Congratulations, Thomas, on being picked for this week’s Idea of the Week!
“A walking tour with [community consultation] meeting participants will help everyone familiarize themselves with the site context and allow for informal discussions between staff, residents, the applicant and other stakeholders.” – Thomas
