New .NET Features from Telerik

Telerik, a .NET development tool vendor, revealed its latest list of releases.  The list includes Silverlight advances and ORM support for SQL Azure.  Telerik says its OpenAccess ORM is now the only ORM that fully supports the SQL Azure database.

OpenAccess ORM
OpenAccess allows developers to map to cloud-hosted databases in the same way they do with local databases.  Two new features allow runtime changes to an application's object model or database schema without having to recompile.  'Artificial Fields' can add or change fields during runtime and the 'Schema Change API' can add or change your database schema during runtime.  Other new features include enhanced LINQ support and stored procedure support for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL

Silverlight Tools
Telerik's other industry-first is WebUI Test Studio's first codeless Silverlight UI testing automation solution.  The UI object model includes the complete list of UI elements in Silverlight.  QAs and Developers will also have access to exposed validations so specific functionalities can be tested.

ASP.NET UI components
  • Extensions for ASP.NET MVC beta
  • Four new Extensions built on the popular jQuery JavaScript library
