Microservices! They are everywhere, or at least, the term is. When should you use a microservice architecture? What factors should be considered when making that decision? Do the benefits outweigh the costs? Why is everyone so excited about them, anyway?  Brought to you in partnership with IBM.

UI enthusiasts can rejoice: Yesterday, Telerik announced the release of Telerik Kendo UI Core, an open source package of UI and JavaScript tools that also includes Telerik Kendo UI Mobile. According to Telerik's press release, Telerik Kendo UI Core includes the following features:

  • 38 UI widgets, including all of Kendo UI Mobile, and all of the core framework features, such as templates, data binding, and input validation
  • Access to thousands of tests and best practices
  • Tight integrations with Bootstrap and UI widgets ready for use with popular libraries like AngularJS
  • Public availability via a GitHub repository and Telerik.com

The package has been released under the Apache 2.0 license, so it's free for developers to use even commercially. However, it doesn't include all the features of the commercial versions of Kendo UI - for example, the data grid and data visualization tools are not available.

So, if you're in need of some new (free) UI resources, check out Kendo UI Core, and get more details on the announcement from Telerik's press release.
