Although, like any keynote, it's filled with a lot of 'rah-rah, we're awesome' talking points, AWS re:Invent also had a few interesting announcements in its opening keynote this year, and I have the video that condenses all that down into 8 minutes.

There are new services for BI, and even a strange-sounding service called Amazon Snowball, where you actually get a big sturdy container with an Amazon hardware device inside that you ship back to AWS with your updates.  It sounds ridiculous and counter to the whole concept of the cloud, but really when you get down to it, Amazon is just a company that can run and own the data center instead of you.

Snowball is kinda sad to me only because we're basically admitting defeat against this perennial bottleneck from "the network." Basically, it's for uploads so big that it's faster for a courier to deliver and pick up an actual piece of hardware and bring it back to Amazon's data center to make the upload directly. Kind of like when your internet is out and you put something on a USB stick and walk it over to your coworker's office.
