Join For FreeLast year, at Google I/O, we launched the new Firebase — and we’re continuing to work on it. This year, I/O returns to the Shoreline Ampitheater in Mountain View. The Ticket Application Window opens on February 22 at 10AM. Learn more at https://events.google.com/io/.
We’ll also be talking a lot about Firebase at Google Cloud Next in March in San Francisco. I’ll be there doing multiple talks! Hope to see you there, too!
It’s a short update this week, as I’ve been busy preparing my talks for Cloud.Next as well as building a Firebase+Google Maps powered robot to show off there! More to come on this blog.
I’ve also been working on an Android+Firebase Cloud Messaging experiment — allowing you to set the colors of two lights in my home office over the web. Learn more and try it out here.
Community Posts
Here’s a great article from Femi Taiwo on Medium about Understanding the Power of Firebase Security Rules.
A really neat article here from Alex Bachuk on using Firebase with Amazon Web Services simple email service (SES).
@skielo keeps putting out great Firebase blog posts, this time on Firebase – Authentication using AngularJS.
An older post that I discovered this week — also on Authentication, this time by Jorge Vergara where he posts on using Firebase Anonymous Login with Ionic Framework apps.
Official Channels
It’s been a busy week (especially for me!) on the official channels. This week we published an article on understanding Complex Sign-in user flows on Android with Firebase by yours truly, as well as a great quick tip on Firebase Analytics from Todd Kerpelman; and more Pirate Metrics from my partner-in-crime Parul Soi.
On the YouTube Front, another Pirate Metrics video from Parul and I hit the innertubes.
The excellent #MeetFirebase show had a new episode with Pedro Nunes from Firebase Crash Reporting. I’m filming my episode next week — can’t wait!
Doug also put out a great episode on Firebase Crash Reporting in the #Firecasts series.
And to wrap up a really busy week for me — here’s a Firecast on FirebaseUI Auth for the Web. I don’t usually do web stuff, as I focus on mobile, but this was fun! (Not sure about the cheesy grin in the thumbail though…)
