Note: Even though there really is nothing stopping you from finding a solution to this on the internet, try to keep honest, and come up with your own answer.  It's all about the participation!

A Programmatic Approach to Bean Counting

Today's puzzle is a bit general - I'm looking for you to find a programmatic way of counting how many jelly beans are in jar. Think outside the box here. Does your function take dimensions to approximate? Do you take a picture and use image processing algorithms?
