Effortlessly power IoT, predictive analytics, and machine learning applications with an elastic, resilient data infrastructure. Learn how with Mesosphere DC/OS.

Last night I stumbled upon this free online training program where you could learn about how to combine Hadoop and Amazon AWS! You would even receive a certificate if you passed the test at the end of the course. So I started the training by watching the supplied videos and yes, after passing the test I got the certificate:

And I must admit it was quite an achievement to watch the complete set of videos,I wasn’t able to watch all of them. The videos are quite boring (it is mainly someone reading the sheets from the powerpoint presentations, especially the video’s from IBM are very hard to sit through), lots of commercial content promoting IBM and partners and quite outdated stuff. So to receive this certificate was quite an achievement but I son’t think that was the idea of theBigDataUniversity when they put this training together.
If you are really interested at running Hadoop in the cloud there are much better ways to investigate like: AWS EMR or HortonWorks. And to learn more about Hadoop see Cloudera for example.

Learn to design and build better data-rich applications with this free eBook from O’Reilly. Brought to you by Mesosphere DC/OS.
