Join For FreeLast Thursday the W3C WebSocket and Web Storage specs reached the 'Candidate Recommendation' status -- which means that the W3C working group believes the standard is ready for implementation.
The Candidate Recommendation status also represents an official call for implementations from W3C.
This is a major step, though perfectly unsurprising. Implementations already exist, of course, so massive, unforeseen problems seem unlikely to appear -- even as questions about HTML5 security, especially local storage and geolocation, arise in greater frequency.
