Artificial intelligence has expanded its footprints into many significant fields giving new opportunities for AI developers to improve the productivity with better efficiency. The healthcare sector is one of them that AI is going to play a vital role to improve the treatment process more autonomously and with better results in terms of disease diagnosis and medical care assistance.
Further, with more improvement in AI applications, the healthcare sector will be getting more equipped facilities to provide better medical treatments at a faster pace. Actually, there are many subfields where AI is used, and if you don’t know what the use of Artificial Intelligence is in healthcare, then below are a few examples where AI is extensively used at ground levels.
Managing Medical Records
AI in the form of robots collecting the data stores it and can reformat the same with better accuracy. It can keep the medical records, patients data and other information with option to retrieve the same as per the customize needs.
Doing Monotonous Jobs
Repetitive tasks in hospitals such as Analyzing tests, X-Rays, CT scans, data entry, and other routine works can be done with the help of robots with maximum accuracy. Cardiologists and radiologists don’t need to work except for critical cases to diagnosis and analyze the medical reports and other data used while providing the right medicines and care.
Virtual Consultation and Nursing
AI-based applications are giving the medical consultation virtually on the basis of personal medical history and common understanding into medical fields. Such apps work by reporting the symptoms online using the speech recognition to compare against a database of illnesses while recommending the best action to take from the user’s medical history. The digital nurses also helping people monitor patient’s conditions and follow up with treatments between doctor visits while answering questions about medications and whether symptoms require a doctor visit.
Medication Treatment Management
AI-enabled apps are used to monitor the use of medication by a patient. A smartphone’s webcam is partnered with AI to autonomously confirm that patients are taking their prescriptions and also helps them manage their condition. It also helps to keep monitoring the body's health conditions and generate alerts if anything is noticed during the treatment process. It is also designing the management of overall treatment of the process of a patient along with dieting charts and timing of medicine taking and other schedules.
Strictness Towards Medicine
One of the best uses of AI in healthcare is the aiding in precise diagnosis of critical diseases like cancer etc. at an early stage, helping doctors provide the timely and effective treatments to elp patients recover with minimal risks. AI-supported applications or machines could spot cancer and vascular diseases early and predict the health issues people might face based on their genetics.
Health Monitoring and System Analysis
AI is also used in fitness tracking devices, like Fit Bit, that monitor heart rates, sleeping patterns, and walking activities, helping users to generate alerts and exercise accordingly. These devices also gather data of such users to make it available with additional data points on the needs and habits of the patients to improve the AI-supported devices and to ensure they work with better results. They also allowing users to highlight mistakes in treatments, workflow inefficiencies, and helps the area of healthcare systems avoid unnecessary patient hospitalizations.
Although, trusting AI fully in the healthcare industry is not acceptable at various locations that provide advanced medical facilities. However, with time, trust on such machines will become strong for independently diagnosing diseases and making decisions. Over the past years, a significant advancement in machine learning as a service and better quality in training data has contributed to healthcare by assisting in discovering insights and processing data faster than humans.
