Speech to text will help individuals transform and excel by transforming mundane and time-consuming processes into easy, manageable pieces.
The trend of speech recognition is paving the way for better business management. Voice search or speech recognition is the true value-driver in today’s ecosystem. In comparison to features like face recognition, speech recognition is cheaper and easier to implement. So much so that Apple and Google are putting in more efforts to reduce errors from apps.
While a study tells us that the error rate was 57 percent in 2015, a 2018 paper tells us that the error rate is a mere 5.1 percent. The prospect of relying on digital assistants to convert speech to text and to get work done faster is a feature that is difficult to circumvent.
Here are the advantages of speech recognition integration in mobile apps:
Speech to Text
Speech to text's main power is to turn your phone into a high-speed typist. Your words can be transcribed immediately and will not require anyone to type each and every letter. Moreover, Google and Apple offer multiple SDK options for integration, which makes its integration into mobile apps a piece of cake.
Before you start typing, you can give a voice input to open an app on your smart device. A competent software will open the required app that you want to input content in. You can also copy the text with a voice command, post it, and give further instructions, like adding email IDs or contact names. When you need to send multiple emails, this feature is extremely handy.
Language and Accent
Google recognizes 119 languages. Moreover, it allows the speaker to key in emojis like ‘wink emoji’ or ‘smiling emoji.’
Apple, on the other hand, only recognizes about 50 languages. However, you can expect Apple to add more languages in the months to come.
The prominence of accent is an important part of the speech to text. However, both Apple and Google have encountered problems here. The importance of this feature, however, is pushing research with the help of AI. While the problem of accent persists, major accent-text-to-speech software show less than a 4 percent error.
The IoT Angle
The era of the Internet of Things is upon us. Smart watches, home automation, security systems, smart cars, and smart kitchen devices are some of the IoT devices that have permeated the commercial market. A majority of them offer voice recognition.
While most of the devices will be used by the consumer sector, businesses too also integrate software to use IoT devices and communicate with their audience. Imagine if a customer wants to provide feedback. He/she can use the integrated voice recognition software to type the content. Thus, using IoT with voice recognition to share information can be made easy.
Business Apps With Voice Recognition
The prospect of speech to text is enormous in the everyday business sector. Voice technology, however, cannot be the sole catalyst in transforming businesses. Think of voice recognition as a building block to transforming businesses — stitching many building blocks together to create tailor-made enterprise mobility solutions that suit the business’s unique ecosystem.
Brands need to consider that improving communication with customers is the most valuable asset to enhance revenue-generation, i.e., using technology to bridge the gap between your business and your audience.
