This tutorial explains how you can execute scheduled tasks in Java. Java does not come with native support for scheduled tasks (and timed beans is not my cup of tea), so this tutorial uses the free Butterfly Scheduling API and standalone scheduler application. It's like Chron, only in Java, and with many options for customizing the scheduling, failure scheduling, task reporting / logging etc. It's ideal for running scheduled tasks on a server. The tutorial contains both a text and a video.
