In our previous post we began to explore some of the possible approaches to mobile app monetization in the current iOS structure. The app store is great for creating an environment in which you can market your apps to potential customers. Along with that ecosystem also comes a 30% commission that must go to Apple. One could look at that 30% commission off of your sales prices as the cost of acquiring a new customer (a new paid acquisition model as well?!). If that’s true, the 30% is pretty much in line with what some of the marketing thought leaders say is a good rate to run paid ads would be.
