This is so true. There are so many different tools and libraries and different ways to set them up that it makes it really hard for newcomers to choose proper toolset and configure it for efficient development.

Java web developers/developer advocates should really create more entry level instructions and tutorials. Step by step guides to install java, build tools, IDE basics, deploying to local server, debugging and (cloud) deployment.

Java8 is here, you can use it already today

Tried WildFly 8.0.0.CR1: seems to work ok as well.

Due to its startup time? IMO rather irrelevant after first deployment. Last time I tried Java 8 bytecode with TomEE it died for some annotation processing, same with plain Jetty 9.1. Dunno about WildFly.
