Adolfo, absolultely valid point and on my mind as we reference this companies. That said,

1) They inarguably changed thier industries and were major disruptors

2) Software and delivery was an intergral part in the rapid ascent. If they adopted traditional approaches of waterfall dev, non-mobile interfaces, eprom flashing etc. we would not be talking about them at all.

3) PR, legislation, manufacturing, business practices etc are at the core of thier current challanges, software won't solve everything

We will now have to wait and see if they can sustain thier position and innovation. It is one thing to innovate it is another thing to sustain.
