so if it phones home weekly and i have 8 different netbeans configs running between work and home, does that mean i would register individually as 416 on this list (52x8)?
if so, i am unsure that these numbers can be relied upon for any accuracy.
the community has grown, yes. but i don't know what these numbers can actually tell us.
clarification?

John;
MyEclipse is much more than a bundle of plugins. Over 250,000 man-hours have been put into MyEclipse to incorporate not only open source technology, but also proprietary material. As a brief example, MyEclipse Ajax/Web 2.0 tools are completely written in-house. As a hybrid example, we have open source technologies we have incorporated in ways no one else has, like the Matisee Swing GUI designer from NetBeans.
To be frank, most developers can grab a"bunch of plugins" and add it to Eclipse. Even easier, they are now using Genuitec's free Pulse tool. But, the integration and addition of cross-functionality between the popular technologies in MyEclipse creates an unparalleled integrated environment. Many of the commentors in this thread have their favorite features, and I would invite you to try MyEclipse to see the difference.
Drop me a note to jens AT genuitec.com. I'd be happy to chat with you further or point you in a direction so you can most easily see the differences between Eclipse and MyEclipse. We compete directly with tools like RAD and Workshop in the tool realm, but at a competitive price point of only $30 or $60 year as opposed to thousands. These products are obviously much more than Eclipse + plugins, as is MyEclipse.
I hope you'll take a peek and download a free 30-day trial. I'd truly be interested in your thoughts on the product.
Best,
Jens - MyEclipse
