Great idea! The next step is a complete online IDE as a service for entire projects (incl. hosting, build, metrics, quality tools, testing, etc). Would be interesting to see if this IDE as a Service will beat the current decentralized code approach as e.g. Eclipse + Git). Tables please help the competition!

Right: Google should have bought Sun (might had been a good feeling to own MySQL). Can someone now please port Scala and Clojure on an independent layer? Oracle is not spreading trust about Java. A pity.

I don't see the point in "too many features" in Java. Mostly you really don't have to use them. Thus beginners could use Java in the old fashin and experts can use these new features. A good example are closures. He writes: > Closures are a popular request. It's always good to implement something new that's fascinating because you will learn a lot. But db4o already has everything you need. No "extend", because sometimes you can't. A super clean API.
