70 Scrum Master Theses, Part 1

Sep 25, 2017 · Stefan Wolpers

  • "Writing user stories as a team . . .Writing user stories, then, is a corresponding and collaborative effort involving the entire Scrum team. The process should create a shared understanding of what will be built and for what reasons (the product owner providing the ‘why,’ the scrum team detailing the ‘how,’ both defining the ‘what’), and a shared sense of ownership among team members." - I liked this one, I found this helped when I was creating user stories at a prior company.

Speed vs. Quality – Which Is Preferred?

Sep 24, 2017 · Alex McPeak

I notice this issue a lot in my working environments as well.

As a technical writer, I come across the same issue when creating content or developing a guide. I can easily throw together a 300 - 500 article in an hour. But I can't say the quality of the article is the best. Do you have any more suggestions on how we can move towards this common goal of speed and quality?

Great post!

How Do We Know If We Are Getting Better?

Sep 07, 2017 · Thomas Martin

Great article, Isabel!

I agree with the quote you cited and your statement: "'Without data, you are just another person with an opinion' and that reminded me of how hard, but at the same time important, it is to measure quality."

I often have a difficult time finding the data I want. The metrics you added seem like a great way to keep track of it though.

How Feature Flags Tame the Four Heads of Complexity

Apr 12, 2017 · Jeffrey Lee

Hmm, that’s a good question! Complexity is more of a natural state, it’s neither good or bad. I doubt that any developer wants their system to be in a state of entropy though. I think as long as the system of complexity is controlled, then it's fine.

How Amazon Is Bringing IoT to Land, Sea, and Air

Mar 30, 2017 · Jeffrey Lee

It's incredible. All of this could've sounded like fiction ten years ago. It will be interesting to see if any of these developments will change how Prime memberships work. I could see more benefits from having a prime membership, but will there be a price increase? Time will tell.

Do You Work From Home? Thank the Consumerization of Enterprise

Mar 29, 2017 · Justin Baker

Alot of people underestimate the strain commuting puts on an employee as well. For some, that is two hours of there day gone just going to and from work. How could that time be better spent? Yeah, there may be some issues where it can be difficult to communicate with workers during the day, but those are minor compared to the amount of time you lose driving to and from work. Like you said, as long as the right person is selected, they are motivated, they are a hard-worker, working from home shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'm not saying it's the way to go, but it's great when companies are flexible with their work environments.
