You are right, I've done the test after long time, and the default setting of Crystal were changed, I replay the same test 2x500 and the result are quite the same (some numbers are even higher on Vertex4 with 500MB test file).
For the stability, I own a ocz vertex 2, three year runs on three different machine and never had problem, vertex 3 and 4 are stable and runs quite 14 hours a day for months. Ocz first firmware for Vertex 2 has really lots of problem, but now it is really stable.
Generally speaking 256 GB are really faster than 128, and you gain also difference in performance between generations, even if you fail to notice in standard usage. Since I'm mainly a developer, it is not useful to understand what happens with big file (10 GB), I'm interested in random load and write (database, compiling, etc). :)
