Are you doing agile or are you doing waterfall with some agile practices?

Jul 05, 2009 · admin

As it said "Forget about documentation" I don't agree: I don’think Agile is about forgetting documentation, it’s rather about not waiting for the final documentation before starting to code. This is the concept of iteration where you will refine the software following a progress spiral like the founder of Modern Quality Management advocates in his Deming’s Wheel or PDCA (Plan Do Check Action): http://statistical-process-control.org/dr-demings-revolution/

Well I would be happy, I'm not against Linux, I'm against lack of objectivity. I have long kept saying IE was better than Firefox until Firefox stabilizes. Now I'm saying Firefox is better than IE. So I will be ready to say Linux is better than Windows when I will have objective facts for that. I don't care much about the stats, but since you mentioned it, I query Google and from what I read here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-9910263-16.html "Linux went from 1.25 percent in May of 2007 to 2.02 percent in March of 2008. That is 61.6 percent increase in market share in nine months. [Put another way,] that is 82 percent annual growth in installed computers." 61.6% from ... 1% : reminds me of gov or media trick, stats never lie of course :)

5 Reasons Why the World Still Uses Windows – Can Linux Ever Catch Up?

Jun 29, 2009 · Tony Thomas

Once upon a time there were two graphical OS: Geoworks and Windows. But something was lacking in Geoworks: A spreadsheet application. People don't remember this anymore especially Geeks. They can't also remember that People in Enterprise at the very beginning of the PC, were ordering a PC it just because of Visicalc the first spreadsheet ever conceived. Linux still don't have a decent Office Suite for Business Power Users. I am part time trader and I still can't use Major Trading Softwares on Linux. I don't care about Windows or Linux, I do only care about what Real World Applications they can offer. Why Geeks seem never catch this simple equation ?

Agile is Dead

Jun 25, 2009 · Thierry Lefort

If you read the founders, you would know that Agility and Lean comes from the philosophy of Deming's Quality (see http://statistical-process-control.org/dr-demings-revolution/ ) the original (Lean) Quality Management which has subverted by so called Six Sigma or ISO which has nothing to do with Deming. Deming / Shewhart basic idea is the spiral of continuous progress of PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action or Correction) which is itself based on the scientific principle of Aristotle. Modern "Gurus" reinvent the wheel without even sometimes refering to the Founders, as for followers, they don't understand the Fundamental Principles, just the slogans which have no operationality. Operationality is very important in the thought of the Quality Founders that's why Deming wrote in his 14 points of Management: Eliminate the use of Slogan ( http://statistical-process-control.org/deming-14-points/ )

Native code makes a comeback - except it never went away

Jun 20, 2009 · Joseph Volcy

The huge majority of developers don't work for software editors who need cross-platform, they work in Fortune 500 who have chosen either Windows or Linux and so they don't care so much about cross-platform but about opensource (free) or not. So Managed Code will be dominant because the cost of human resources far outweight the cost of performance with managed code and for most business applications it is not even proved that the gain is visible.
