Hi Chuck--While I want the full team to participate in estimating, you are correct that not everyone should be treated equally. As in your example, one person may be identified as the (usually) best estimator. And in some cases, someone else may be better because of familiarity with that type of work or that specific part of the system. So, not everyone is treated equally.

I haven't personally experienced that. I suspect the solutions I offered will still help. But I think looking for a better job should always be an option when one has a bad boss. Having a good boss I could learn from was also the most important criteria for me when looking for jobs. That approach served me well.

Agreed, Chris. I have no problem with someone skilled at A, willing to do B and C who hates doing D and E. My problem is with someone who says "I only do A."
