Customer Relationship Management is an integration of three very vital yet related terms i.e customer, relationship with them and definitely managing those relationships. CRM though a fairly new concept has become an integral part of all sort of businesses and it has left an indelible mark in customer satisfaction.
Salesforce and Netsuite are the two most important CRM Solutions with their own sets of strengths and utility. While Salesforce is known for lead generation and tracking a lead lifecycle Netsuite on the other hand is known for its accurate financial analysis and resource planning.
In many such instances we witness that enterprises are opting for both these tools together. But the main problem occurs when they have to transfer the entire data (like all leads) and their account details from one system to another. Thus a simple solution to combat this huge problem was their integration.
Yes the ultimate solution to take care of this situation was to integrate the two powerful tools Salesforce and Netsuite to multiply their strengths and utility. Integrating these two systems simply implies that data fed into one system should automatically be updated in the other system.
Salesforce And Netsuite Integration (Using Restlet)
There are a number of ways via which we can integrate Netsuite and Salesforce. The few possible ways are enlisted below:
- Integration NetSuite and Salesforce using Restlet.
- Using third party integration service like Actian, Boomi AtomSphere, or Informatica Cloud.
- Using custom integration adapter- as a custom middleware based integration.
However each of the following ways have their own set of advantages and limitations. While developing a custom integration adapter requires a lot of coding and is a time consuming affair using a third party integration service can prove to be very costly. So which leaves us with the third and most useful option of integrating Salesforce and Netsuite using Restlet.
Integration Using Restlet
This type of integration is not only fast to develop but easier to implement. It gives a good performance and is also a cost effective solution.
The following steps illustrates the integration procedure in a lucid fashion:
Step 1: Creating Restlet scripts on NetSuite
Step 2: Authenting Salesforce and NetSuite
Authentication is very important in any sort of integration where there has to be a transfer of data. Mostly we run authentication callouts for Netsuite credentials and use Salesforce to pull or push data to Netsuite. The following code is an example code for Netsuite credential authentication in Salesforce.
Step 3: Transferring data between Salesforce and Netsuite:
To enable transfer of data between the two system you need to build separate webservices in Salesforce.
The code below shows how to sync Salesforce opportunities.
As we need a code to sync the files, so do we need a code to fetch data from Netsuite. You need to create data fetching Batch helper in Salesforce and create callouts for fetching JSON data from NetSuite database.
Step 4: Automated Integration via batch class in Salesforce:
The best option for syncing data is to run it in batches. Or in anyways you can use a button to call the classes at the correct point of time.
Both Netsuite and Salesforce have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. Thus their integration not only magnifies their strengths but also complement each other’s weaknesses. And hence become a very powerful tool to cater to the need of all CRM issues.
