Join For FreeThe GDPR or General Data Protection Regulation is on everyone's mind right now. If you've been on the Internet lately, you've probably heard about it. The goals of this set of regulations are to give people in the European Union (EU) greater control over how their personal data is used by organizations (including businesses), and to standardize data protection rules and policies across the EU. The deadline for compliance with the GDPR is May 25th; for more information, visit GDPREU.org.
What's DZone Doing About It?
As a company with both members and advertisers in the European Union, DZone will need to be compliant with all aspects of the GDPR. Here are the steps DZone is taking to ensure that compliance.
We've updated our privacy policy to provide you (DZone members, newsletter subscribers, and visitors) with clear, easily understood policies regarding consent, data privacy, and data usage.
We've enhanced your ability to:
Anonymize your PII, data, and activity.
Delete your data and activity.
Query your data and activity for individual data requests.
Pull logging info of GDPR-related activity.
You can request this info from your profile or by emailing privacy@dzone.com.
We've published a new page that will enable you to easily access and submit GDPR-related requests. It will be accessible directly from your profile.
We are asking that existing members confirm they have reviewed our new policies before accessing any DZone member benefits. What Does This Mean for Me?
Once the GDPR goes into effect on May 25th, we'll be reaching out to all of our members and asking them to review and consent to our updated privacy policy. If you still want to receive DZone emails, such as newsletters, daily and weekly digests, and publication announcements, you'll need to agree to this consent.
Be sure to check your email for important messages from DZone related to the GDPR, updating your privacy policy, where to request your data, and how to update your profile. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the GDPR and DZone, email us at privacy@dzone.com or mail us at 150 Preston Executive Drive, Suite 201, Cary, NC 27513.
