An artificial intelligence system is one that uses machine-based methods to predict, recommend, or make decisions that affect real or virtual environments based on certain human-defined goals. It has become apparent over the past few years that AI applications are rapidly gaining traction across a wide range of industries.

AI applications

“The United States' private investments in artificial intelligence (AI) amounted to nearly 23.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, the most of any nation. China, with 9.9 billion U.S. dollars in AI funding, ranks second.” A report recently published by a leading data and research firm Statista reveals so.

We are in the midst of a global technology revolution. The world's leading powers today are engaged in a race to develop technological innovations around artificial intelligence (AI), which is capable of transforming everything from healthcare to e-commerce. Consequently, several  AI training data companies have popped up in response to AI's fast-paced training data demands, doing all the work in the background to make AI work in real-life practice.

What Does Artificial Intelligence Mean?

A machine can simulate the behavior and thinking of a human and can be trained to solve specific problems using artificial intelligence. Machine Learning and Deep Learning make up Artificial Intelligence. Different kinds of artificial intelligence models can make intelligent decisions using big data.

As an example, let's look at security and surveillance. Due to technological advancements in cameras, sensors, and robotics, superior security equipment has been developed. It is increasingly being used in homes, businesses, and public spaces to protect them from criminal activity. Not only do security and surveillance systems have sensors to detect motion, but they also have ultra-high-resolution cameras to capture it. An unknown intruder's image could trigger the alert system.

In What Ways Does Artificial Intelligence Fit Into Real-Life Practices?

Let’s now take a look at how the application of AI is used in different domains. The following note will help you better understand the five top artificial intelligence applications in the real world.

1. E-Commerce and Retail

You can better engage your customers by using recommendation engines powered by artificial intelligence. Their browsing history, preferences, and interests are taken into account when making these recommendations. Your customers will be more loyal to your brand when offered a personalized shopping experience online at your e-commerce store or offline at your brick-and-mortar shopping outlet.

Online shopping is made easier with virtual shopping assistants and chatbots. Conversations are made more human and personal by using Natural Language Processing. Further, these assistants are capable of interacting with your customers in real time. You may be surprised to learn that soon; chatbots will be handling customer service in e-commerce stores.

Credit card frauds and fake reviews are two of the most significant issues that E-Commerce companies deal with. By considering the usage patterns, AI can help reduce the possibility of credit card fraud taking place. Many customers prefer to buy a product or service based on customer reviews. AI can help identify and handle fake reviews.

2. Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare

There is a wide range of applications for artificial intelligence in healthcare. Healthcare applications of artificial intelligence are being used to develop sophisticated machines capable of detecting diseases and identifying cancer cells. A combination of artificial intelligence and lab data can assist in detecting chronic conditions early. In order to discover new drugs, artificial intelligence combines historical data with medical intelligence.

It's easier and faster to do mundane tasks with robots, like analyzing tests, X-Rays, CT scans, and data entry. It can be time-consuming and overwhelming to analyze so much data in cardiology and radiology. The use of human supervision in cardiology and radiology will be limited in the future to complicated cases as AI will take over all the complicated things in healthcare practice.

A wearable health monitor - such as those offered by Fitbit, Apple, Garmin, and others - can accurately measure heart rate and physical activity. In addition to sending alerts to the user to increase their exercise, they can share this information with doctors (and AI systems) in order to gather additional information about the patient's habits and needs.

3. Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture

Using AI to detect pests and diseases, spray intelligently, and sort produce is transforming the food and agriculture industries. As AI advances, the agriculture sector is entering a new era of evolution, utilizing computer vision technology to monitor crops and soils, detect diseases, and farm produce.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) systems in agriculture is helping to improve the quality and accuracy of harvests. Farmers can detect diseases, pests, and inadequate nutrition using artificial intelligence technology on their farms. Using AI sensors, weeds can be detected and targeted, and herbicides can be applied accordingly.

A soil defect or nutrient deficiency can be identified through agri-tech powered by artificial intelligence. Computer vision, robotics, and machine learning applications can monitor weed growth. Crop harvesting can be accomplished more efficiently and quickly with the help of artificial intelligence bots.

4. Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Lifestyle

Our lifestyle has been greatly influenced by artificial intelligence. Our lifestyle is gradually becoming enriched by self-driving vehicles powered by artificial intelligence. Toyota, Audi, Volvo, and Tesla, for example, use machine learning to train their computers to drive safely in any environment and to identify objects in order to avoid accidents.

Artificial intelligence filters spam emails from our day-to-day email, placing them in spam or trash folders, allowing us to see only the filtered content. According to Gmail's statistics, it managed to filter 99.9% of email traffic — a feat only made possible by artificial intelligence.

Our smartphones, laptops, and PCs use face recognition methods to detect and identify faces when providing secure access to our devices. The use of facial recognition goes beyond personal use, even in high-security areas.

5. Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Robotics

There are a lot of artificial intelligence applications in robotics as well. A robot that uses AI senses obstacles on its path in real-time and pre-plans its route in advance. From home and retail clinics to urgent care and ambulatory surgery centers, AI can determine the best routes, frequency, and means of transportation for products and caregivers.

Automating processes via robotics (RPA) is becoming increasingly popular in healthcare, particularly when processing claims. Using RPA, repetitive tasks can be automated and standardized, enabling employees to focus on more valuable work. Pricing and contract terms can be populated into procurement systems using automation in the supply chain.

Automated inventory management systems can detect demand patterns, forecast demand accurately, and optimize warehouse replenishment plans based on this data. A real-time inventory management system built on artificial intelligence provides enhanced and instant forecasting.

Final Thought

In the past two decades, Artificial Intelligence has revolutionized a wide range of industries by bringing new applications to them and helping solve complex problems. Cogito, Analytics, and many others are AI training data companies that can provide businesses and industries with efficient computer vision solutions in manufacturing, telecom, and security areas. Developers can leverage our data annotation and labeling services to maneuver AI-enabled solutions in their fields of expertise.
